Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about NoCall, blocking spam calls, and protecting yourself from phone scams in the United Kingdom.
How can I find out who is calling me?
Type the number into the NoCall search. You will see the community reports, the type of call (spam, sales, scam or legitimate) and comments from other people it has called. With the NoCall app, the free plan identifies known spam calls and Pro blocks them before they ring.
How do I find out who a phone number belongs to?
Look the number up on NoCall: the community's reports and comments usually say which company or service is behind it and whether it can be trusted. NoCall does not show personal data about private individuals; if nobody has reported it yet, you can be the first.
Is there a list of spam phone numbers?
Yes. NoCall's spam list gathers the numbers most reported by the community in your country, with the type of call and the date of the latest report. It updates in real time with every new report.
What is NoCall?
NoCall is a community platform to protect against spam calls in the United Kingdom. It combines a collaborative database with more than 109,489 numbers flagged as spam and a free, ad-supported app for iPhone and Android that identifies spam calls while they ring and, with Pro, blocks them automatically.
Is NoCall free?
NoCall has a free ad-supported plan that lets you search numbers, read community reports, and report spam calls. Pro removes ads and unlocks advanced features such as automatic call blocking, background sync, and filtering of suspicious SMS.
How does automatic blocking work?
Automatic blocking is a NoCall Pro feature; the free plan identifies known spam calls and warns you. On iPhone, NoCall uses the iOS CallKit extension and keeps the community spam database on your device, so it works even without an internet connection; with Pro, those calls are blocked before they ring. With Pro the database syncs on its own; on the free plan you sync it from the app. On Android, NoCall works as your Caller ID & spam app: it checks every incoming call against that same on-device database and, with Pro, can reject calls from reported numbers before they ring.
How can I report a number?
You can report a number in two ways: from the NoCall app, signed in, or from our website by looking up the number and using the report button, without creating an account. Just enter the number and the category (telemarketing, scam, debt collection, etc.). An admin reviews every report before it is published.
How many numbers are in the database?
NoCall’s database currently contains more than 109,489 numbers identified as spam, backed by more than 3 real user reports in the United Kingdom. The database grows every day thanks to community contributions.
Does it work on Android?
Yes. NoCall is available on Google Play for phones with Android 10 or later. When you choose NoCall as your Caller ID & spam app, it warns you while a reported number is calling and, with Pro, blocks those calls automatically. NoCall is also on the App Store for iPhone, and the website works in any browser, so you can search numbers and report spam from any device.
Is my data safe?
Reports you send from the website are anonymous and need no account. To use the app you sign in with Apple, Google, Facebook or a code sent to your email; the account is used to sync the database and manage your plan. Your contacts are never uploaded and the number calling you is checked on your phone without being sent to any server. The free plan shows ads.
How can I stop marketing calls in the United Kingdom?
In the United Kingdom there is a do-not-call list: Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Once your number is on it, companies that follow the list stop the marketing calls it covers. It does not block scam calls — use NoCall for that.
