Ok, followed this through and phoned 01242 537 073 as I had been receiving silent calls over many weeks from this number and I had used the 1471 trace. The key info is the company responsible for this mayhem is called Assured Futures based in Cheltenham, Glos, Uk. They claimed a box had been ticked on a go compare form and they were following things up. However, what was happening is their telecoms autodial to customers would switch off after so many seconds. So this meant that the phone call to me would kick over to answer phone on my phone and then the Assured Futures phone call would just go dead. Even when I picked up the phone before the answer system kicked in, there was no reply. To cut a long story short Assured Futures were told to investigate and remove my details from the database under the Data Protection Act , which the lady agreed to. I pointed out that they would not be getting any business from me as they could not manage a telephone system , so why should I let them advise me financially. The whole thing has been inconvenient and with a seriously unwell relative , it was the last thing I needed, 3 to 4 duff phone calls a day from an irresponsible company. I asked them to have a serious review of matters, which they said they would.
