THE NUMBER IS GENUINE AMEX FRAUD PREVENTION.THEY CALLED TO CHECK UNUSUAL ACTIVITY ON MY ACCOUNT, I.E. I WAS ON A SHOPPING SPREE AT THE SALES! ALL WAS WELL AND MANY BARGAINS WERE PURCHASED!!

Was called today by 0800 077 8057, related number on answerphone stated as 00441273 576 806 alleging call was from AmEx. I rang AmEx back using the number on back of my card. Callee confirmed was a valid number and in fact AmEx were checking validity of an online purchase today. All was well. HTH.
