Called pretending to be Amex fraud team. Tell you number one different to that at back of card because it is fraud department from main line. Have some card details. Tell you about one fraudulent charge they're stopping then say have another attempted. Eventually get to say you're going to get a code via SMS and they will need that to cancel card- hung up after taking name and saying going to call for myself. Amex confirmed not them but company named as second charge was an attempted purchase blocked so seems scammer was trying to make that transaction on the call and after the one-time passcode.

Smear fishing. They had my full name, the last digits of my credit card, my address, my phone number… 1st they called me from an unknown number, told me it was Amex and that they were doing an investigation, he said someone was trying to use my credit card in Scotland to pay for a purchase of over 2K which was flagged as suspicious, they mentioned the name of the store… after I confirmed it didn’t do the purchase, they told me a code would be send to my phone and asked me to read back. At that point I was 99% sure it was a scam, so I hung up and called Amex, they confined they didn’t call me and that such purchase attempt never happened. Next day I got a call from the number above following up on the scam ?. They wanted to try a second time. This time I just told the person I knew she was not from Amex and that she should stop trying to scam people. So she hung up.

They claim they are from the Amex fraud team, and told you that your Amex account is scammed and tried to help you block your Amex account. They also told you your iPhone is hacked and all your information in iCloud is in another phone, so all your bank accounts are in danger and you need to block all your bank accounts, and asked you what other bank accounts do you have. IMPORTANT!!!! AWARE!!! They will ask you to download an app from Anydesk.com, DON'T do it. This is an app for them to control your mobile phone, but they claim it can help you clean the virus in the phone. Before they call you, you must have clicked some fishing links and they got some of your personal information, as they know my name, address, birthday, and last 4 digits of my Amex card number. For me, I accidentally clicked a link fishing my Amazon account, so they got my information. Don't be frauded by them because they provided you with some of your personal information. DON'T give any personal information. You can call the number on the back of your card to check your account status.

Call appeared to be from AMEX but when I called them back they had no record of the call. Confirmed scam - they make you aware of fraudulent purchases then ask for the cards verification code so they can scam you further.
