12Told me I needed to pay customs duty to release the shipment. Shipment was already in my home.
Extremely sophisticated scam. Phoned me to ask for Invoice of my shipment and to email it. Red flag, when they replied to my email where all the links to dhl were broken. Then they phoned to say I owed duty. Although nothing unreasonable about that when importing goods, except when I asked for a statement for outstanding amount, they said they couldn't do that and only take payment over the phone. Alarm bells. They said they couldn't release the shipment, but I have already received it. I then phoned DHL and asked them to let me know if there was any duty due on my shipment that I've received and they said: 'no'.

DHL Import, spoken to them several times
Totally genuine! Don't believe all negative comments here. I had a jacket shipped from ZA and it was the DHL customs dept that called from this number, actually helping me clear any further costs (as it a return of personal effects). They called my number as it was on the shipment package.
shipment about customs blah blah but what's funny is that shipment is sitting right infront of me
I thought this was a scam initially because I didn't recognise the shipment but it turned out to be a parcel for my company which my phone number was put in as the reference. They were able to confirm a lot of details about the package and didn't ask for any personal details from me. I told them to contact our shipping department and they were happy to do this. There was no pressure for payment or any attempt to get personal information. I believe it to be legitimate.

Scam trying to contact DHL customers. They say the parcel is trapped with customs but it is NOT. Mine was in my hand when they made this claim. Man hung up when I pushed this further and when I mentioned I had reported them to DHL.
