This number called me yesterday and again this morning, pretending to be from Santander. I sensed immediately that they weren't genuine and said that I would ring Santander to check if they were, indeed, wanting to speak with me. The caller immediately gave me a phone number to ring (different from the one he was calling from) which I suspect belonged to an accomplice. Instead I laughed, put the phone down and rang Santander, using a genuine phone number from their website. They confirmed it is a scam and said they will pass the number over to the police,

Very convincing scammers saying that there had been fraudulent activity on my account and that I needed to open a new account to transfer money across to it. Santander or any bank would never ask you to do this.

SCAM.. called pretending to be Santander fraud department, luckily I intervened when my mother was on the phone to them. They were asking her to transfer funds to a new account they had set up for her.

Identified as Adrien Clark @ Santander Fraud and unusual activity detected on account. Was an Englishman who was convincing and had spoofed one of Santanders fraud numbers and directed me to the Santander website to 'confirm' their number. They hung up once I asked them for my account info. They were looking to get me to open a 'new account' via a SMS message and transfer funds.
