11Worked onsite at HSBC as a contractor, this is the number that their internal helpdesk uses to contact you when you have an issue
BEWARE!!! Called up saying they were from HSBC department. Asked me for security check details. I said how do I know they were from HSBC. They said to call them back on this number. I said that still doesn't prove that they are HSBC. They didn't even want to tell me which department they were from or anything about what the call was regarding. They told me it was important and wanted me to call them back on the same number. Went through the normal HSBC line and they checked out my account and spoke to the fraud team. No calls logged, no notes about this, no red flags or anything out of place on my account. Told me to be careful with these kinds of calls. I fear a lot of the other comments in this thread have given out their personal information most likely to a data collections company or something.
Received call to check on possible credit card fraud.
Indian voice suggesting call back to HSBC Checked with HSBC not them
Called saying that they were from HSBC do not use HSBC Terminated the call.
I have called HSBC via the call centre to find out if this was them and it was one of their departments trying to contact me with a valid query. So if in doubt, call the bank on the number you usually use and know to be correct, they'll verify you and get you through to the right department.
This was NOT a HSBC number it was somebody trying to get my bank details!!! Do not trust!!!! Don't trust this number or ever give out any details over the phone .
HSBC customer service team. They called me on 5/11/14 regarding an enquiry I made online. Not spam
This number is definitely HSBC. I hung up and then called the HSBC contact numbers, I went through the full security check and they said yes there was a potential fraud. They out me through to the fraud protection team and they were just checking whether I had made the transaction whilst travelling in Singapore.
I'm also NOT a customer of HSBC or Marks and Spencer's, but I've had home calls from this number that I have missed.
This number is HSBC's fraud department. They call when your card has been marked as having fraudulent or unusual behaviour on it and they call to confirm that it's you using the card and if it's not you then they cancel and send you a new card. They don't ask for any account details ect. they just ask that you confirm your identity by your name and address and then they tell you everything about your last transactions and what they want to do about it. IN RESPONSE TO THE PEOPLE ABOVE: Yes, if you miss the call and try to ring it back it wont be recognised as the bank uses a large automated switch board which directs the calls. If you want to get back to speak to HSBC you'll need to get the main switch number off their website. For me they even rang my mobile then my home straight after each other, no other organisation can do that! Calls may also come from Marks and Spencer's fraud team but they're all genuine fraud prevention calls that will help you, so for goodness sake answer the phone!
