I'm registered with UK Power Networks and have received similar alerts before where there may have been a power cut in my area. I received a call to my mobile and to my landline, plus a text message, all at the same time. Here's part of the text message: "Power cut alert from UK Power Networks at 20:04. We are letting you know about an unplanned power cut in <my postcode>; this is affecting 1/3 of properties in your area, so you may still have power. We did not know this was going to happen, so providing you with prior notice wasn't possible".

UK Power Networks is probably listed on your bill as 'Electricity Distributor' if you are in E/SE England and London. This is their automated line for warning of problems in your area

It’s power networks letting you know there is or might be a power outage etc in your area. I’m signed up as vulnerable so that’s why I get texted or called. It’s an ok service. Pressing one just gives more detail about progress with fault getting fixed
