I ordered a washing machine from AO and this number called the day after. The lady was extremely pushy about the insurance. I said I wasn’t sure and to call back, that I needed to check with my husband etc and she just kept repeating that she needed a sort code and account number. I felt at this point it was a bit dodgy so I hung up. Seems to be a proper number but the sales people are very pushy so just be aware. I ended up cancelling my order because I didn’t like this kind of tactic.

Basically when you buy something from AO. They phone you from this number. Spend ages going though your order with stuff youy know anyway as you bought the thing involved. Then 3/4 of the way through by the time you've mainly switched off introduce the extended warranty thing. For me it would £7.50 a month. Once you call them out on the fact thats their ulterior motive for the call then call soon ends. Legitmate but just a waste of time way of trying to sell extended warranties!

They pretend to care about you (we can help you get an earlier delivery date... help you with the discount code...), but it is only about selling the insurance. I am disappointed. Not good practice. Manipulative.

Told me they were calling going about my delivery from AO and I would not receive my fridge freezer if I didn’t speak to them! Turns out they were trying to sell me an extended warranty. Very persistent and wouldn’t take no thanks for an answer! I eventuality hung up and blocked the number.

AO calling to follow up on a purchase I made and trying to sell their monthly insurance. Very polite and did not annoy me at all. I understand that they need to sell their services. If you do not need the insurance just kindly decline their offer.

Selling on product insurance - the usual

Anonymous
27 Aug 2020

They start to just confirm your delivery but then soon turns into how you have a warrenty for life of product and all benifits - and then suddenly they mention its a monthly cost and they can set the Direct Debit up straight away. After explaining not needed, she continued to speak over me saying she can set it up right now for us and its all OK! I had to basically shout to stop the action. Do not answer. It's nothing more than after selling insurance rubbish.

Trying to sell extended warranty on purchases. Felt sorry for the young girl as this is after the Coronavirus lockdown has just been eased. You have to wonder if it is really necessary for management to call her in? Work from home, why increase the risk and strain on NHS, public transport and your own staff by asking them to commute?
