SCAMMER - They fake the number then say they're calling from O2 to give a 40% discount for being a good customer because I pay my bills on time, but couldn't tell me my name, anything about my bills in particular, and wouldn't accept any other form of ID check. I knew straight away they were scammers so wasted their time for 15-20 mins asking why the text "they" had sent told me not to give them the code they wanted. They said they needed to verify I owned this number but couldn't tell me why this was needed considering they were CALLING ME ON THAT NUMBER! What they're actually doing is entering your number on the O2 website, at which point you're sent a text to make sure that it's you trying to log in (obvs it isn't so they need you to give them the code). If you give ANYONE that pin code, you've lost your account & need to call O2 ASAP! I've worked for O2 and this is so outside the way should contact you, it's ridiculous. If you're ever not sure if a call is legitimate, hang up and call the company using the contact info on your paperwork or their official website. Legitimate companies are ALWAYS Ok with this and will give you a reference number or name yup all for when you call back later. NEVER call a cold-caller back on a number they give to you. EVER! BTW If you're feeling a bit mean, please feel free to waste their time as much as possible (using fake details if necessary) so they have less time to spend on possible victims ୧(^ 〰 ^)୨
