A search of publicly available UK caller identity resources indicates that the number 0142 232 4510 (UK geographic Halifax) has been flagged in user generated reports as a debt collection or harassment type caller by multiple users. The consensus in community sourced listings suggests potential nuisances or impersonation in some cases, and there are mentions of interactions related to debt collection, with some reports alleging unsolicited contact and misrepresented debt claims. Overall, there are online reports associating this number with debt collection activity, but exact legitimacy cannot be confirmed from these sources alone; proceed with caution when deciding to answer. 1. Type and likely owner: Geographic UK landline number (Halifax area). Multiple reports describe it as debt collection related, implying a business or agency contact rather than personal mobile use; some entries suggest CRS or similar agencies. The pattern aligns with institutional/commercial debt collection use rather than a residential line. 2. What people say online: User driven reports on platforms that aggregate caller experiences label this number as debt collection or harassment, with some stories about unwanted messages or calls and misattributed debts; several entries caution about the legitimacy of the debt claims. 3. Association with scams or unwanted calls: Reports commonly categorize it as debt collection, which can involve pressure tactics, but there are also warnings about illegitimate claims in some user posts. The available anecdotes suggest potential unwanted contact, though not definitive fraud evidence across all reports. 4. Public exposure/leaks: The number appears in public facing caller lookup and spam report databases where users rate calls; no clear indication of a confirmed data breach or leaked dataset solely for this number, but it is present in public directories and complaint driven sites. Exposure seems limited to caller lookup platforms and forums rather than a confirmed data breach. 5. Advisability of answering: Given the recurring reports of debt collection activity and potential misrepresentation, answering or returning calls is not advisable; if contact is necessary, initiate via official channels from recognized creditors rather than responding to unsolicited calls.

The darker side of Halifax? Aggressive and persistent chasers on behalf of JC International, finally followed by "a discount". No idea what this is about.

Started texting a few months back without any indication of the debt source so I ignored them. Recently started offering a 'large reduction' but I ignored that too. Now are saying that action for recovery is imminent. I looked back at my records and found the original debt which I had responded to without any reply from that company. They have now sold that debt on, hence the chasing. I finally contacted them via their online chat and rather than lots of typing I arranged for a timed phone call. I am now hoping that either their generous discount is VERY low or that they will agree on a small monthly payment. So far they do seem efficient and responsive. Generally, I would say that if a real debt exists or not, it is always best to respond rather than just hope that it will go away because once things escalate it is very hard to de-escalate.

Kept sending text messages to me claiming that I owed money to LaRedoute (whom I have never been associated with), followed by claiming to have passed my details onto the CRS for immediate collection. Do not ring them, as this is fake.
