They collect on all gov debt. Pretty rude company and very unorganised however they are legitimate. If you deal with them make sure you keep records of the conversations as they may lose information and forget conversations had, even if they call you a hour after you have called them

Called and sent text. Text said that they wanted to discuss business opportunity (???) It IS Advantis, which I understand is a collection agency with gov contracts, but I, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER, have NO debt, never mind outstanding debt, and I am DEFINITELY NOT connected to any HMRC "issues", either myself or vicariously. So obviously they either make mistakes, or they are involved in other activities outside of outstanding debt.

They were ringing my mobile quite a lot and I don't like answering numbers I don't know especially from places I don't know. Never left a voicemail so didn't think it was important. They rang the house phone yesterday and my mother answered they left a reference number. Rang them this morning. The person I spoke to was polite asked for the reference then for my name address date of birth no bank details needed and said about there is a DVLA fine of £80 something about a renewal fee I found this very odd as I passed last year and it was my first car. I do remember though there being a complication with my direct debits the first few months but did speak to a DVLA advisor and we agreed to pay the full years payment so there wasn't anymore problems within the future. I told the advantis advisor if it was okay to call DVLA as I wasn't aware of this. Rang them and they had confirmed the fine. Sitting and thinking about it I think I know where the **** up has happened. Because the payments weren't going through correctly between September to December I rang them we agreed to a years payment so they have renewed my road tax from Dec 2016 to Dec 2017 even though I passed in August 2017. So I'm paying for the 3 months fee that I have missed . . . I think.

I was worried this was all a con as I received an automated phone call and a text with a reference to call back with. I called them back on the phone number on their website (to make sure it was legit) and gave them the reference number. They asked for some security questions to prove who I was and I refused as I read these reviews and thought it was a scam. The lady on the phone understood and instead, gave me the client that filed for the debt collection and said I could contact them directly to solve it. I promised her a good review if it turns out this was all true. I called Thames Water and they admitted they made a mistake. They let Advantis know. Here is the good review.

Advantis are a debt collection agency on behalf of DWP department of works and pensions and HMRC for working tax credits so basically if you have been overpaid any benefits in the past they want there money back. And they have the power to contact your employer and take there money all in one go from any wages. So anyone oweing a my debts will be better to contact them and sort it out rather then take your working tax credits or wages in one go. they have constantly rang my husband 5 times a week for a overpayment which is now sorted out at £5 a week

In my case is a debt collector, appointed by the Working tax to recover over-payment... Obviously said over-payment was incorrect not real but who can argue with the government ...so they are just doing their job collecting reported debt.
