They provided 3 different numbers at this point with was from an EE provider and is located in London. Police have been informed of the fraud that has been committed.

I accidentally sent a text to a landline. BT Mobile texted me about a service to convert the text into speech, i did nothing. Then BT Mobile texted me to say text delivered to landline. BT Mobile and EE are the same company. EE is the mobile service.

I missed answering this call but checked here anyway as I did not recognise the number. I see others have said it is a text to voice message for landlines. The odd thing is this was sent to my mobile so it would not have had to convert it to voice.

Just received a call from this number which said I had a text message but the message was garbled. Phoned our friend who was in a London hospital thinking it was him and he had sent by accident a text message to our landline which resulted in this call. It must be the message service operated by BT but doesn't appear to work very well.

This is the first time I have ever given Tellows a positive report about a number. When the call came I thought it was another of the dangerous nuisance ones I get daily. It was a recorded voice and I could only pick up half of what was being said even though I pressed the button, as invited, for a repeat. I realised someone must have texed me on their mobile and that this was how I was getting the message - because that happened once before, a few years ago when nuisance calls were less frequent and it was possible to identify their source. I then telephoned the mobile user who I thought had probably tried to text me. He answered, and said my guess had been correct. I hope I do not get any more of these "clever" calls from anyone. They cause a lot of bother.

Just received a call from this number (25.9.16) 2040hrs. It was informing that I had a text, which then tells you the number it was from. Then reads out the text in an automated voice. I recognised the number & contacted them, they had accidentally sent a text message to the landline number!

This number has rung me several times at various times of day. If I answer the phone the line is dead BUT if I don't I get an automated message telling me to call this number from a landline BUT does not say why. I was told the number can not be traced and can not be blocked but I am not happy because (like others have said) I am being called at all hours early in morning

My Mum was woken at 2.00AM by this caller. She is 87 and disabled and struggled to answer only to be met with a message asking her to call another number, which she could not remember. She was confused and frightened and this type of call at such an unsociable hour is totally irresponsible. I will be contacting the phone company about preventing these calls but from other comments posted i doubt I will succeed.

So much misinformation about this Virgin SMS to landline voice text message " The number 07953 966066 is not a hoax or a scam but the mobile number the message came from could be from friend or foe, but in my experience all my messages were genuine... I received around 7 or 8 perfectly genuine messages from friends which I ignored until a friend asked why I didn’t reply to a message!.. The message is merely a text message sent to your landline and converted to speech but because it is text-speech (Electronic Voice) the automated service reads whatever the sender typed and has we typically abbreviate (shorten) words using "Text Speak", it comes as no surprise the message is often garbled and not always easy to understand, The Mobile telephone number the message came from could be a friend or relative etc, it could also be a text sent to the wrong number but unfortunately the service is open to abuse.. So as always show due diligence because it could be from someone trying to sell you something or worse!. if you don't recognise the mobile number just search for it and make your own informed decision to either respond or not... “Bare in mind the message is often genuine but not always”… 07953 966066 in itself is not a hoax number!..

for anyone to call at 03.00 with a voice text which tells you to log onto a website or phone them to repeat the message is just irresponsible. Bad enough during daylight hours but overnight when the whole house is woken to see who had died - which is usually the only reason for an overnight call. Not on. Totally irresponsible

Hal's reply is spot on. If someone sends a text message to your landline and you don't pick up the phone it gets stored for you to retrieve later. This 0795 number is where you collect the message, plus the number of the mobile phone that sent the text. It's not dangerous. All depends on what the text message says, of course - that could be anything. In my case it was someone texting to say Sorry I Missed Your Call. See? Not dangerous.
