I became a member of 'Gourmet Society' recently and almost instantly began to regret it. I contacted 'Gourmet Society' to discontinue the automatic withdrawals from my account of an annual fee to remain a member. At this point I was advised, and expected to believe, that I cannot remove myself as I do not pay 'Gourmet Society'. To do this I have to contact 08445671020 which is a premium rate telephone number. I always understood that if the fault was with the item purchased then it was the responsibility of that company to put it right, in this case, the 'Gourmet Society'. Is there anyone out there who can tell me who I can contact to put this right?

Answered some questions and was promised a £20.00 fuel voucher andsome money off vouchers. I did answer NO to all questions. Got a call from 02920364211 confirming the survey. I was to receive the £20.00 fuel voucher, even asking me what type of fuel, a surprise gift, lots of money off vouchers, a dine and get 50% off card and a magazine. I had to pay a £2.78 postage fee to receive it all. I am so glad I refused because I didn't read this until after I lost my temper at the manager who was obviously reading off a template and refused to send anything. I doubt the address and postcode is right either but I have just reported this scam to Action Fraud.

MotorPal - My advice is not to give these people any bank details. Even if you cancel within the 'trial period' they will continually request debit from your account & deny you have cancelled. Sharks! I have told my bank not to pay them anything and will report them to Action Fraud.

I received a call from Motorpal today Telephone number 029 2036 4211 , they wanted me to pay £1 for vouchers to be sent then alarm bells rang so I did some checking and found this site. I have asked them to call back tomorrow as I said I did not have my card to hand lol. I will be giving the details of the caller to the fraud squad tomorrow and contacting my local MP after the general election . I will be making sure this company is fully investigated at directorship level . If it is a scam it will now be put to bed.

I was called by this company saying that they would send out free vouchers if I just pay the cost of postage. I was dubious about giving out my bank details, but they reassured me that it was safe. I have just had £79.99 removed from my bank account making me overdrawn. I didn't think anything about the company but I should have listened to my gut instinct. Never again will I do this for anything free. If a company asks for your bank details over the phone then put the phone down, do not give them out. It's a waste of time and your hard earned money.

Moto Pal, they use your debit card like a cash cow: They should be stopped. I was told to pass on the moto pal offer onto a friends if I didn't need it. That was after over £80 taken out of my account. Perhaps the Chief Constable of Cardiff can use it:

I was phoned by an 02920 (Cardiff) landline number and they said they were an organisation called Motorpal who can save you money on car servicing. Offered to send a £10 voucher off petrol and a £20 rebate off a car service I'd already had as an introductory offer. The guy I spoke to (Elliott) sounded really plausible, and when I expressed doubts his supervisor came on the line and she also sounded quite genuine. I agreed to the £1 "contribution towards postage" on the 'Welcome Pack' but after reading messages here I phoned my bank to block any future payment requests to be on the safe side. Why are these dodgy companies allowed to operate and scam people?

This company called me offering £20.00 in vouchers on fuel, It was not mentioned that I would have to send the vouchers off to the company to claim cash back it was mentioned that all vouchers are accepted in all fuel stations. I have the vouchers they don't look like they would honour them the look fake, This Company only wants your money and are operating a scam they also have you call them on a 08444 or 0843 no which they don’t explain the call charges. There is an alternate 0800 no which is 0800 6696480.

I got a call yesterday from Motorpal. The welsh lady was on phone to me for 25 mins, we discussed scam requests and I asked if this was similar to the money club where they give a £1 one month trial then take £99 out of your account, not a £1, then five months later take another £99 and so on. I told her I had reported The Money club to trading standards and got more than the money I paid out back using my bank to retrieve, so was not interested. Always use your bank to reclaim and report to trading standards or Rip off Britain.

These people called my 80 year old mother and offered her a free subscription to a medicine cabinet (whatever that is) all she had to pay was one pound for delivery charge for which she gave her credit charge details. That took place in march this year, since then we have found 4 x £79.99 charges taken from her bank, contacted this number (mgi - shows as reference on her bank statement) asked me to send bank statements showing proof, however bank advised me against this, cancelled direct debit with bank however will probably never get money back (£320.00) DO NOT GET TAKEN IN BY THESE PEOPLE

I was called on April this year by the company named above, they offered a magazine and money off vouchers. They offered to send out a pack to view for the cost if £1.00 which I agreed. However I did not receive this 'pack' and on May I noticed an amount if £80.00 taken from my bank account. I called said company enquiring about this in which they told me I never cancelled within 14 days of receiving the pack so this was yearly subscription. Didn't matter that I did not get the pack they had their back covered and wasn't goin to see one penny back. Then on August there was again another £80.00 taken frm my account, called and they td me it was money I owed as they did not have any records of my first payment. I had to get a bank statement and prove this by email before I would get my money back. This was 4 wks ago and iam still waiting for money to be out back into my account!!! Do NOT trust anyone from this company!!!!

They told me i have to wait 3 days to see if the payment is taken as it is pending so i cant stop it. This is a joke and the company should be prosecuted for it. Unsolicited call from Louis (very English accent)at Motor Pal who wanted to offer a service package for my Ford car (said he knew from a survey I had a Ford?) Offered a service deal for only £49.99 per year (to cheap to be true) and would cost only £1 for posting out the brochure. Wanted me to pay £1 by Credit or debit card - knew the this was likely to be a scam and said no way and hung-up. There is an automotive company of this name in Czechoslovakia but even their website might be part of this scam!

I was also caught out by these people. They tried to take £79.95 out at 2.40 this afternoon. Fortunately I had gone out to get some cat food and I tried to use my card which was refused because they had taken the little that was in there and left me with £4. I immediately came home, reported it to the bank who told me that the payment was going out under the name MGI. MGI are a real firm of accountants and they are aware of the scam being perpetrated in their name. The payment was awaiting authorisation so the bank blocked my card and cancelled the payment. I was fortunate in that I realised what was happening and was able to get the bank to stop the payment. I wonder how many others are taken in by these scams?

I was contacted by MGI offering petrol vouchers for £1 plus other vouchers which I would not have to accept. Was assured only £1 would be debited. I return vouchers to MGI within 14 days as I felt this was something that would not actually benefit me. I was assured no money other than a £1 would be taken, butt this is not the case as my account has been debited for £79.95 by a completely different company other than MGI. The telephone number is going to voice mail. Now awaiting a call back.

If known to so many systems it is time they were sorted. All poaching of funds will be documented by your bank.

Sometime last year I had a phone call regarding giving them £1.00 for £20.00 petrol vouchers. Since then I was charged the amount of £79.99 4 times. I don't check my statements normally but in December 2014 I did after coming back from holiday. Surprisingly I saw the amount of £79.99 going out from my account. I investigated and checked my previous bill and found out that 4 lots of £79.99 went to MGI Services from February 2013 to December 2013. I contacted my bank and they investigated but they could not help me. All this time I have not received anything/goods. I rang the 0844 567 1020 number and spoke to someone in early March. She argued and I was offered a refund of half the amount. I am still struggling to receive this payment after constantly ringing them every 2 to 3 days, they keep on saying in will be within my bank within 72 hours but I haven’t received any payment yet. I would like to know that if this is happening to lot of people then why is Watchdog not doing anything. I have also written to them but no response yet…I would like to know how many people have received the refund from MGI.
