Caller said they were from IRD and asked me to login to my ird account to check letter. When I did logi. Something started working in the background of my computer so unplugged!

Turns out it was actually legit, IRD calling about setting up 2FA. I blocked this number at first and eventually they emailed and left voicemail saying to call the 0800 number

Said they are calling from Inland Revenue. Want to help me set up 2 factor authentication before it becomes mandatory. Asked them to send across the details and instructions on myIR. IRD has a web page notification informing people that they will be calling about this. Very bad way to go about the exercise and an open invitation to scammers to make similar sounding calls.
