A concise assessment based on limited results indicates the number appears to be a toll free or service line in New Zealand, with multiple reports on user driven prank/claim platforms suggesting it may be encountered in scam or misdial contexts. No definitive, authoritative record confirms a single legitimate owner; callers should treat it with caution and avoid providing personal information. 1. Ownership/type: Indications point to a New Zealand toll free or 0800 style number, potentially associated with a service or carrier, not obviously tied to a specific business publicly. No verifiable, authoritative owner is clearly identified in the found sources. 2. Online chatter: Several user reported entries mention this or similar NZ numbers in reverse lookup or caller report forums, often describing it as uninformative or potentially nuisance calls. Community driven databases show mixed, non expert observations. 3. Scam/undesired association: The aggregated discussions and cautionary posts suggest potential association with telemarketing or nuisance calls; however, there is no unanimous confirmation of fraud or targeted phishing tied specifically to this exact number. 4. Public exposure/leaks: The number shows up in public facing spam/scam databases and reverse lookup services as a topic of interest, but there is no clear evidence of a wide breach or leak involving this exact digits block beyond routine directory style exposure. 5. Call back advisability: Given the absence of a clear legitimate owner and the prevalence of cautionary reports around similar NZ 0800 numbers, answering or calling back is not advisable without verifying the caller through official channels. If contact is necessary, use official company numbers obtained from trusted sources.

Took a couple of seconds to respond to me answering, so assume auto-dialer. Sounds like they got my phone number from LinkedIn as they knew my job title. Said that he was from IBM and wanted a time to attend a presentation. Sounds scammy AF

Social engineering. Claims to be from IBM setting up some sort of "technical presentation for next week". If you are in that industry this is the sort of thing you would receive an email about, they will certainly not be calling you from an 0800 number. Tries to talk over you as you tell them where to go.
