A concise factual report could not be completed with reliable, verifiable sources provided here. Available references suggest NZ style numbers can be spoofed or repurposed by offshore entities, but no authoritative, specific, and up to date attribution for +64 9 730044 (NZ) could be confirmed in the current context. The overall guidance is to treat unexpected calls with skepticism and verify through official channels before answering. 1. Ownership/type: No definitive, reliable attribution found for this exact number; reports suggest NZ numbers may be used by legitimate or offshore affiliates, so identify as potentially local looking but not deterministically verified as a specific entity here. 2. Online sentiment: Mixed landscape exists in general NZ number reporting resources (scam check services, forums, and guidance pages), but no solid, verifiable discussion specifically about this exact prefix/number in current results. 3. Association with abuse: No confirmed widespread fraud or scam linkage for this precise number; broader NZ reporting notes that spoofing and telemarketing scams occur, but this number’s specific risk remains unverified in the excerpted sources. 4. Public exposure: Public directories and scam databases in the results show generic guidance on how NZ numbers can appear exposed or spoofed, but no explicit indication that this exact number is publicly leaked or appears in breach datasets or paste sites in the cited material. 5. Call back advisability: Given the lack of verified identification, advisable to avoid answering or returning calls from unknown numbers, especially those that may spoof local NZ numbers; consult official scamWatch or bank/security guidance if contact is suspected.

Claim to be Microsoft wanting to audit our software licences. Not genuine but persistent.
Caller wanted to talk to an account or IT manager about upcoming license renewals for a client of ours which is not the right approach if legitimate. If legit I suspect It's Microsoft trying to step in between us and another licensing provider to cut out the middle man. Otherwise the call stinks like an unprofessional scam.
Call from this number "on behalf of Microsoft" asking questions about our customer's Microsoft environments. Refused to provide the name of their business. Refused to answer any questions about the reason for the call unless I answer their questions first.
