it's a scam! Don't pick up.
Same situation. A 'policy officer' named James Scagnelli, Badge number 14689, claimed I was involved with a fraud case. Please don't pick up. It's a fraud.
The caller pretended to be a police officer and claimed that I was involved in a fraud case, asking me to cooperate. But I quickly realized it was a scam call, so I didn’t share any personal information. I could hear many people talking on phones in the background, clearly making other scam calls. When I pointed this out, the caller became cautious and said it was because many victims were being contacted. Right after that, the background suddenly went quiet. Scam callers usually speak very quickly and with a sense of pressure, trying to lead the victim into their rhythm. They use fear and false authority to gain trust and extract personal information in order to steal money. Please stay alert and be careful.
Calls pretending to be government, businesses, or family and friends received in NY, New York.
