Received a call claim from American Express fraud department. There's a transaction of some amount today and to verify it is you. I never owned a card with AE, googled the number and find out the same fraud. Here's another rating to add to the story.

They called me using the real AMEX number and told me that there was an illegal charge from China on a AMEX card I own. I did not own the type of AMEX card they specified, and they told me it was created recently (last month). They told me the card was used to buy guns, which was illegal and that I needed to file a report with the Shanghai police (even though I am not in china). They “verified” my information, meaning they had my full name and an address I had not lived in for years. They said I needed to file this report with the Shanghai police otherwise I may be detained for a felony. They asked if I needed help filing this report, which is when I requested to call back from my phone instead of proceeding. They acted as if they were legit until the last second, providing me with an employee ID. I called AMEX and they checked my accounts, no new cards had been opened, and they confirmed this was a scam call.
Back to back spam calls
Scan call about an illegal transaction of $11,000 in Xiamen, China by someone which committed a identify theft. They got my name, address, and when asked provided a full 15-digit credit card# which AE or any other banks would never surrender. AE verified that the provided card# does not exist.
