9Jane with SESAC, music licensing. I own a small cafe and has called me non-stop. Sent email with contract. Almost fell for it!
Indeed we are from Alabama and a guy that sound Indians ish telling us we have to have a license old or is to play music He’s asking to talk to the owner we always say he’s not here .
Number called the place of business I am the GM of accusing us of not having our music license because "they're legal department brought it to their attention from a facebook post about our live entertainment" Skipped over every question I had to verify what they were calling about. I tripped them up and they threatened lawyers. What a JOKE. We are in SOUTH CAROLINA.
Mable fron SESAC a Performing Rights Organization calling a dance studio saying they have emailed multiple times and haven't asking for money to be able to play music
Tennessee based Music solicitation Collector = Boiler Room Phone Calling operation. Head Set Desk Jockey who can't get a real job, calling Every Bar, Restaurant, Barber, Beauty Salon with a presence on Facebook that plays a radio, TV, Sports, Juke Box, Karaoke for customer listening. Do not answer. Alternate Phone # of this "scam center" is (615) 742-5088 & (310) 568-6012 Caller is "Ben Taylor" & Abegail ACain from their Manilla Phillipine Call center. If answered - disregard him & tell him not to call back. He may send follow-up email = put in Spam folder. They start out asking for $1,600 to $2,000 annually. If they think u r worth it - in 2 years they'll send by a commissioned sales rep similar to Cable sellers in their 20's to see what u have on in your shop. They'll settle for $200 - but even that isn't enforceable unless they take you to court. Is that worth their legal fee? Doubt it. Guy said to me that if I have Saturday College Football on in my 1 chair barber shop & any half time music is audible then I owe royalty fees to his company. This is the contemporary version of Asian call centers demanding payment for Norton Security. They're one step above bank robbers with masks & pistols.

Received a call to "urgently" call back about a business licensing issue on a voicemail. Also claimed to send an email to my listed address on my webpage but did not. California has NOTHING to do with any licensing or business I conduct.
