Recorded message said it was Bank of America and they had just declined a $122 charge from Amazon. Press "1" if the charge was legit, or call (did not copy #). The caller ID looked very legit. Obviously a spam. Glad I did not press "1" - or call the number provided. The message did NOT repeat itself. I should have let it go to voice mail.

Robo caller with recording of a voicemail message claming a declined purchase at target for a few hundred dollars. asked to call 1-833-225-5516

Have been calling repeatedly since 6:00 AM to tell me a fraudulent charge of $264 was declined at Best Buy, and for me to call a different number to dispute the charge. This is a scam. One, why would I NOT call them if they declined the charge and it was legit? Two, I don't have a BofA account or card. Be careful, folks!

Got a voice mail from 800-432-1000. Told me I had a couple hundred-dollar charge and were calling to verify the purchase. The message started a few seconds into the call so there was no identification it was from B of A. The message directed me to call 877.886.3492 to verify the purchase. Since this site says it's a B of A fake call, I won't bother to call them back.

This evening (@6:55pm) got a call leaving a voicemail message claiming a charge on my BOA account and wondering if the charge was valid. I don't have a BOA account and don't answer calls from unknown persons anyway. Checked to see who the number belonged to and found it was supposed to be BOA fraud dept. Since I don't have an account, I assume the number was spoofed.

this is the number you call to report fraud or check your activity, but they do not call you from this number. I checked my account to make sure nothing weird was going on, and they definitely were spoofing the legitimate number that you can call.

A guy called himself Brad Baker with ID 45326175 called me regarding fraudulent activity. Transferred me to his supervisor and asked me for verification. I told him that he called him so he should already know I'm legit. I finally told him that he is a scammer because I don't even have a BofA account. He started cursing me out. LOL.

Do not talk to these guys they are thieves. They do a very sophisticated Bank of America imitation, get you to send them money, and then disappear.

Received a call on my cell from a person who said they were calling from Bank of America & wanted to know if I had made some recent transactions & wanted to verify them with me. The person knew my name & that I was a BOA customer but the call it self was suspect due to the quality of the phone line they were on was very scratchy & kept cutting out & the person had a heavy accent that made her hard to understand. After quickly consulting with my wife if she had made any recent transactions (no) I let the person know that I suspected this to be a phishing call & was hanging up. Immediately checked my account to see if anything was amiss & all was ok. Then went to call BOA to report the fraud call only to find that the fraud line is the same number that had called me! After a period I was able to talk to a BOA associate who upon checking to see if I had been called by a legitimate BOA associate (they had not) he explained that BOA has been getting a number of complaints of this nature & that some how the scammers are able to spoof the legitimate 800-432-1000 when they call you then switch over to one of their scammer operators. So beware!

I got an email asking me to verify adding a credit card as a payee to my BofA account. I thought it was weird and it said to call the 800 number if I don't recognize it. I googled the 800 number and other people are suspicious as well. I changed my password and ignored the email.

They claim they are BOA fraud department calling to verify recent suspicious activity. They will be able to send you a BOA SMS text message code to verify your identity. DO NOT GIVE THEM A CODE. They are trying to log into your account. If you already gave them the code, call your bank and lock it down immediately. The REAL BOA will stop all activity and give you new account number.

got a call from 1-800-432-1000 telling me someone had made 2 large payments and was it me? I said it wasn't. Same story as everyone else. they tried to get me to use Zelle. I said no, and they tried to convince me. When that didn't work they tried to go through my bank. (my bank doesn't use Zelle.) Then they said they just noticed a charge had been made on my Paypal! They asked me to send pmt with their codes 3 different times. I called my bank and froze my acct. During that call this number called me back 7 times.

If this number calls you, it is 99 percent scam. However the actual number for BofA fraud dept. is the number being spoofed. Hang up and recall and you will get the real BofA fraud dept. So, yes, it is a scam but they spoof the real number.

I received a call from BOA and he asked for me by my first name. He proceeded to tell me the fraud department was investigating if I was the person who made a $1000 Zelle transaction. I informed him since I had no accounts with BOA, probably not (haha). He said he’d close that account and then hung up on me. Definitely a scam!

They were only speaking in spanish - Columbian accent. I asked for enlgish speaking person and they hung up on me.

I got a very strange call from "Bank of America" phone number 800-432-1000. And they asked for me by my previous last name. I remarried in 2012 and have had a different last name since then. They were telling me I was having two fraudulent transactions of $1100 and $1400 that would be coming out of my account if I didn't create a "ZELLE" account. He said he could file a police report on my behalf, but that because the transaction was associated with my phone number, I would have to follow his instructions and log into Zelle and then he would give me codes to reverse those transactions. I said I did not have a Zelle account and he told me I needed to download the app, which I did on my cell phone (I have since uninstalled it). Something just did not seem right and I told him I would go directly to Bank of America (where I DO NOT have an account) and then he really started to get belligerent! I hung up! I'm mad at myself for even going THAT far with his awful scam . . .

Guy with Indian accent called and said that he was from Bank of America wanting to know if I opened a BOA credit card using my telephone number and email address and made money transfers through Zelle. Tried to get me to call another 1800 number (to cancel my Zelle transactions. Got suspicious when he wouldn't tell me where the Zelle transactions were going to. Called up my real bank and they said if they wouldn't disclose transaction destination then it is a scam.

Got a call today at 1:44 from what I thought was BOA. It was a middle eastern accept person using if I used Zelle and my BOA Acct to authorize two separate charges. I did not. Ask me for specific information regarding my account. Knew this was a scam as I have several business accounts with BOA and that is NOT how they conduct security question information. Please do not fall for this scam.

I received a call from what was showing as the real BOA number. They said someone was trying to open a Zelle account with money from my account within the hour. I told them I would call back. *DEFINITELY A SCAM* Someone called saying a new checking account had been opened in my name at a previous address. They had the correct address. They said $5,000 had been deposited. I asked them to verify they were Bank of America. They kept telling me to just Google the phone number (which is the correct phone number). Still, it didn't seem right. I hung up and called back. The real people were able to verify my checking account balance so I knew it was a real number. They ran my social and found no new accounts with it. Then I found this site saying people had been spoofing the number. So yeah, definitely a scam. Just froze my credit accounts at the three bureaus.

Same as everyone else, they masked the number to match BOA's customer service line. I answered the phone, middle eastern guy claiming to be BOA fraud division. Wanted me to "confirm a suspicious purchase made 30 minutes ago", but wouldn't tell me what the purchase was or for how much. Went on to tell me "you wont be able to see it, but we can see it on our end, I need you to go to Zelle". At that point, I exploded, lit him up for 2-3 minutes of straight obscenities and hung up.

They spoofed BoA's official phone number and called me telling me there were suspicious charges pending on my account that they stopped. They wanted me to log in to online banking and check to make sure the transactions were gone on my end. That lead to them wanting me to go to Zelle to do something to "make sure" the charges were gone on my end or something. It was hard to understand the man on the phone and he talked very fast. I had this page open in a new tab and as soon as they mentioned Zelle, I realized this was indeed a scammer. I asked him to read off my bank account number and he said he couldn't share that confidential information over the phone. I told him "I'm going to hang up and call back the main Bank of America line-" and he hung up on me mid sentence. That cemented it for me, 100% a scam.

Called my cell. Knew my address. Said someone penned an account at BofA in my name. Call got disconnected (his end). Called back apologized for the accidental hang up. Then proceeded along the same line. Someone oppened account in my name. I asked how much is in the account. He told me. I said, "Awesome, I'll take my ID with the address on the account and withdraw it all at my local branch." I am nearly positive he did not proceed with the fraud attempt because I sound very young on the phone. As a side note, I've never had an account with BofA.

Got a text message saying there was a charge at Target for $578.52 from 747-268-2541, asking if I recognize the activity. I texted back No. A little while later I got a call back from the BoA 800 number and the guy had ALL OF MY INFORMATION, and walked me through "reversing the Zelle charge" which involved SENDING MONEY. The pop-up from the Bank of America app says "we will never call and ask you to transfer money." I told the man on the phone that it didn't feel right and he started pressuring me to finish the transaction so I told him I would call Bank of America directly. I did call Bank of America and there were no transactions pending and there was no Target charge. Scam!

First texted me from BofA saying that there was a charge for almost 578 dollars to Target. Wanted me to answer yes or no if I authorized it. A call from the fraud department would follow. I took a screenshot of the number which was 747-268-2541. The call came supposedly from Bank of America 1-800-432-1000. A man claimed that there was a charge to Target using my card. I asked which card (I played along) and he said my debit card. I told him that I don't have Bank of America and he then changed it to the online purchase using Zelle. I don't use Zelle either and he gave up and said thank you have a nice day. Don't give ANY info over the phone!

Called claiming that my account had fraudulent charges from New York. Said I needed to have the card in possession to verify its me who he called!? HAHA. I told him, I didn't make any charges, then he asked, do you have any other accounts you use. I told him I had other accounts with another bank and then he said he needed to know those accounts so he can protect them from fraud as well. I asked him why he would need to know info on other accounts that have nothing to do with Bank of America? He continued to say, someone has your info and are making fraudulent charges, we are going to protect those accounts as well. That's when I hung up. Watch out people. They made this look real as hell with using BofAs actual phone #.
