Fraudsters are spoofing legitimate consumer cellular numbers to display on your caller ID screen. Their message instructs you to call 888-213-4142. Never call 888-213-4142 since that is not consumer cellular. Rather, that is fraudsters pretending to be Consuner Cellular in an attempt to get personal info from you such as credit card or banking account info.

This number called my elderly mother and told her she owed $91 for her phone bill. My mother told her that was impossible, that she only had one line and that it was paid up. The woman quite rudely stated "I SAID YOU OWE THIS MONEY. HOW DO YOU WANT TO PAY IT?!" My mother replied that she was not going to. The scammer then asked my mother to send her a copy of her driver's license (front AND back) and a copy of my father's death certificate. Are you freaking kidding me? My mother told her absolutely not. The woman stated that her phones would be disconnected and she would still owe the money. My mother then hung up on her.
