The number appears to be a toll free US line (likely a business or service number) and early online chatter is mixed, with some reports suggesting spam or scam activity, though reliability varies across sources. Given limited verifiable detail specific to this exact number, exercise caution in returning calls. 1. Ownership/type: Toll free US number; appears to be a business/organization or service line rather than a mobile personal line. Public listings for this exact string are not consistently corroborated across sources. 2. Online chatter: Some discussions and lookups label similar toll free numbers as potentially suspicious or spammy, including forum posts and scam focused sites, though many reports are about numbers sharing patterns with scam behavior rather than this precise digits sequence. 3. Association with scams: Mixed signals; some spam/scam databases and user reports caution callers about toll free numbers doing impersonation or telemarketing, but confidence in this exact number is low due to inconsistent data. 4. Public exposure/leaks: The number appears in public facing lookup and scam report sites with general warnings about toll free lines, but no clear, definitive leak or breach tied specifically to this exact number. 5. Advisability of answering: High caution advised; do not assume legitimacy. If contacted, consider verifying via official channels of the purported organization and avoid providing personal information or payment details. Note: If definitive, up to date verification is required for this exact number, access to live, current scam report aggregators or official telecommunication databases would be necessary.

prison call

Anonymous
Aug 12, 2024

My mom went to prison at Debra K Johnson, I'm assuming that's why I'm getting this. She's trying her best to call me but I haven't funded her account yet. She was in jail and had money in CorrectPay but they transferred her. An inmate probably is trying to reach you for whatever reason. They might have the wrong number.

This robocall sounds semi-legit, it says "someone in jail tried to call your number but GTL will not connect through until you set up an account" with your credit card... Ok, not entirely impossible, but if GTL wanted to make it sound much more legit, instead of their "give us all your CC info first before we give you ANY info about who called" they should at least say what jail (city, state) or name of inmate, or some other identifying info if they want callers to take it seriously. I did not.

I received 3 calls in July, one in August, and one now. These calls Cannot be legitimate, if they were actually collect calls then the person at the other end would be able to leave a name. Nice try though.

It is not a scam. The caller alerts you to tell you that an inmate from a correctional facility has tried to make a collect call to your phone. If you want to receive the call then you need to set up an account and provide a credit card. If you do not want to receive a call from an inmate then don't set up an account. It is more of a courtesy call than anything else.

I received a phone call from this number today. My neighbor had been arrested. It's a way for them to make collect calls. I actually picked up the phone.

Has called several times in the last two days. The voicemails left are saying that an inmate is trying to reach me and that I cannot be billed for the call, yet it asks me to set up an account and provide funds from a credit card when I call the number back it called from a 513 or 531 area code the first time. Most people will probably fall for this if they know someone who gets in trouble a lot, however, the process to get put on a list to be called by an inmate is not like this and the inmate has to fund the calls. Very suspicious, but nice try!!

After someone attempted to make a collect call to my work phone at 7:25 PM from 714-955-4800, I got a message from this number at 8:53 PM saying someone from a "correctional facility" was trying to call me collect, and I would need to set up billing information in order to get the calls! As if! They even said I could call this number back, or go to www.connectnetwork.com to set up an account. I HOPE NO ONE IS DUMB ENOUGH TO FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!! If someone you love ends up in prison, you would not get a call asking for your billing information! What a joke.

2 missed calls in 2days...caller ID said Tel*link which I know to be related to Global Tel-link. If redialed the # goes to an automated service to set up an account. So I instead called GTL customer service, they were able to tell me which correctional facility had called me and after a game of inmate locator guess who? ....my old friend is housed there and has been trying to reach me. NOT SPAM...just requires a bit of detective work.

This automated message calls in the dead of night & leaves a message about an inmate trying to make a collect call to my number. I don't know any inmates, the number is registered in the United Kingdom & I'm not falling for this scam. BE WARNED!
