A caller claiming to work at SDR Consulting or FDR Consulting (could not make it out) claimed to have been instructed by the NCR to contact me because I am paying too much on my installments, and she proceeded to quote every institution where I currently pay installments. When I asked under what authorisation she has access to my personal information, and that this is a violation of the POPI Act, she stated that she was instructed by the NCR to contact me. I replied that the NCR has no authorisation to access my personal information and they also have no authorisation to provide this information to a third party. She than asked me if I remember ticking the box to authorise marketing, when I opened the accounts. I replied that marketing has nothing to do with what she is now doing - violating my privacy. She then ended the call. I have not been able to locate an FDR or SDR Consulting to lodge a formal complaint. I will lodge a complaint with the NCR. When I try and call the number that she called from it is not in service. Shortly after the call, I received an SMS stating that I have (on the day of this call) provided consent to request my credit report; I gave no such consent. I am posting this in case someone else has or may in the future receive a similar call from this number.
