Claiming to be from old mutual and calling to give an "update on my portfolio" and it is "huge". They immediately hung up after I refused to give any personal information over the phone. I am unsure what they consider to be best practice but giving "verification" with personal information makes it suspect.

So, I called this number from a landline and a lady picked up explaining Old Mutual changed their dailling system as the financial advisers were working from home, hence the strange number. They are usually 0215... number sequence. She assured me that it is Old Mutual. Also that the network cuts out when they play the recording.

The caller claimed to be from "Old Mutual Direct" and said she was calling to talk to me about my policies at Old Mutual. She didn't know which policies I have there but said she wanted to talk about my "portfolio in general" and wanted to see if I wanted "to add anything to your portfolio". I don't think these people have anything to do with Old Mutual - I think it's just another telemarketing bunch cold calling people when they shouldn't be.
