This is a legit number that appears to be very dodgy. It’s ASB Credit Solutions, the debt recovery team within ASB. I got several calls a day for several days from different landlines (starting with the first three digits 441). I got left one voice message that was cut in half and was automated telling me to call 0800272728. This made it seem very suspicious. I finally decided to call the normal ASB number and found out the issue. An old Visa card wasn’t cancelled when I thought it was so an account was overdrawn with fees. An absurdly small amount of money though. Crazy that ASB would get their debt collection team to come after me for this amount rather than having a regular banker contact me. I’ve made a complaint about how poorly they contact their customers to discuss these sorts of issues.

0800 27 27 28 is a genuine phone number. They usually call you from a blocked number or a landline used to masked their identity which can change from time to time - most companies with collections departments will do the same because people avoid them. NEVER give out your personal details. They will confirm your details with you as part of their call. Ask them what they have on you and they'll tell you without hesitating. You can always call them back on the 0800 number or call customer services and they will transfer you to credit solutions. They could either need to speak to you directly or ask if you've been in touch with whoever they are trying to contact as part of a skip trace. I worked at the company for 5 years. We definitely got accused of being scammers and I have no doubt that there are posers - but if they're asking you to call 27 27 28, there's no harm in doing that. The real credit solutions will always be able to verify if you were meant to receive a call or not. As for how they are as an employer? Desperate trainwreck.

Received 2 texts saying my account with asb is overdrawn and that I needed to deposit funds immediately or call 0800 27 27 28. I called the number from my landline and blocked my id and it was a recorded European voice and gave me 3 options. I hung up. When I called the real bank the lady told me that I had 15 dollars on my only account and told me that the bank wouldn't text customers. We also got a call on our home number and no one spoke. Be careful.

Hi there, I received an email from ASB Credit Solutions saying that they tried to contact me without success about my account. Actually, I have no dealings with ASB now only in the past. So, I checked up Credit Solutions from the https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2016-al5955 that this company has been liquated. So, this is obviously a scam. Do not respond to them. They try to frighten and give you fears and threats. Disgusting bunch of cheaters.

I have received calls from thus number. They never leave a name or company. As I have been the victim of a stalker, I refuse to return calls to unknown telephone numbers that don't leave a name.

a message was left on my mobile advising to call 0800272728 and quote a number. When I called my bank they had no clue, there was no notes stating anyone had called me and the reference left didn't relate to anything on my account.
