“Caller asked if I was traveling in a certain city. I asked why BOA is asking. He basically cursed me and I proceeded to end the call”

“I received two emails, one requesting me to verify my email for a new account and another authorizing the creation of a new account with the last six digits of the account number and a link. The first email provided a contact number, which I called and spoke to a lady who confirmed my details and closed the account as fraudulent. She sent another email with a link to Identity Theft Recovery. Although some sources suggested it was a scam, the number listed on a promo contact sheet from BofA's website proved to be legitimate. Close any fraudulent accounts and secure personal information”

“I received a call from what was showing as the real BOA number. They said someone was trying to open a Zelle account with money from my account within the hour. I told them I would call back. Called Bank of America, BOA has no record of this. It was a scam. Do not tell anyone calling you any personal information. if you feel it isn't right, tell them you will call them back”

“Received a call from 1-800-432-1000, the same number on the back of my debit card. They spoofed this number. They gave a case number and wanted me to type in VOID486SW2 into Zelle as a recipient to supposedly void the fraud transaction. SCAM.”

“*DEFINITELY A SCAM* Someone called saying a new checking account had been opened in my name at a previous address. They had the correct address. They said $5,000 had been deposited. I asked them to verify they were Bank of America. They kept telling me to just Google the phone number (which is the correct phone number). Still, it didn't seem right. I hung up and called back. The real people were able to verify my checking account balance so I knew it was a real number. They ran my social and found no new accounts with it. Then I found this site saying people had been spoofing the number. So yeah, definitely a scam. Just froze my credit accounts at the three bureaus”
