“Claimed to be British Gas. Google usually identifies the company, not this time. Knew my last name and nothing else so only had my number. But did not know it was afternoon in UK even though a Guilford number. Said they wanted to replace my meter. Told them that I had a new meter as it's a new build building. Told me that I was legally responsible and threatened to call me in two weeks. Ooohhh. Told scammer where to go. They then hung up. Reported the number as spam to Google and Vodafone.”

“As previous reports, the caller claiming to be from British Gas wanting to make an appointment to upgrade my out of date smart meter but the British Gas engineer said I was getting the latest model smart meters when he installed them for electricity and gas only 46 hours ago so I hung up. I then called the number printed on the British Gas information leaflet he had left for me and the engineer's information was confirmed as correct but the number 01483297100 is apparently not one used by British Gas. Dodgy!! Hopefully British Gas will investigate this further.”
